Can't Sleep

Elsa woke up at 4:30 and David fed her. I tried and tried but just couldn't get back to sleep. It is now 6:12 and I know my body is going to hate me later. I tried. Thursday I found out the results from the body scan. It was good news because the cancer is now gone from my femur, pelvis, rib, spine, tale bone, and breast. I only have the small tumor in my left lung which was the one treated by radiation in Florida. It is defiantly smaller. The tough part was hearing that I would have to do at least two more rounds of chemo and then re-evaluate. I had another round on Thursday. They seem to get more difficult every time. But I can see an end in sight. Last night I was having bad nausea and acid reflux. Everett wanted me to read books and cuddle for bed time. It hurt a lot to lay there with him and try to not throw up. I cried when he was cuddling with me. I am so grateful I can still do that with him even on the hard days. I am excited that I made it through one more tough one so I can be closer to one more "normal" one. :) Thanks for so many things! You all bless my life with so much love and happiness! I love you!!!

Overwhelmed

I am in Florida today getting my first round of radiation and watching how much people are donating. I am so overwhelmed! You are all so wonderful! In a day so many have donated! Thank you so much! I don't know what else to say, but thank you! We have been stressing about how this was going to work and you are making it possible. I love you!!

About Me...

My name is Carla and I am 32 years old. I have the best family and wanted to share our story with you. I have been married to my husband David for four years July 21st. We now have two children, Everett who is 2 ½ and Elsa who is 10 months. Three years ago we moved to Glendale, CA from San Diego for David to go to law school. We love being close to family but also being able to have our own adventures.

Last year we began another adventure. In January of 2009 I found a spot under my tongue. We didn’t have insurance so my parents paid for me to have it biopsied. I was told it was pre-cancerous and that it would need to be removed as soon as possible. Since we didn’t have insurance, we had to get government help. Before we knew about my tongue, we also found out that we were pregnant. We didn’t know what pre-cancer meant for our baby, but since we had just miscarried in November we were willing to continue with the pregnancy. By May we were able to get insurance and quickly got things moving. Before my doctors wanted to remove the spot, they re-biopsied it to see where it was at. It had changed to cancer and they also found a growth in my lymph nodes in my neck. On May 18th I went into surgery 5 months pregnant.
